Post Massage Aftercare - Your Guide To Maximise Relaxation
Today, we're diving into post-massage aftercare! We all know how amazing and relaxed you feel after a massage, so follow these tips and tricks and stick to our advice to maximise the benefits and make those feel good endorphins last a little longer!
Stay hydrated
After a massage, your body needs plenty of water to flush out toxins released during the treatment and to rehydrate your muscles. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water throughout the day following your massage. This simple step can amplify the benefits and prevent any post-massage soreness. Drinking water is always super important to reduce the chances of feeling lethargic, but this is strongly advised after a massage with us.
Take It Easy
Allow yourself some downtime post-massage (the best excuse ever to relax).
Avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, or intense workouts for at least 24 hours. This period of rest is crucial for your body to fully absorb the massage’s effects and recover optimally. If you do work out or head straight to the gym, you're more likely to ache, and nobody wants that after you've just spent money on a relaxing massage.
Stretch It Out
Gentle stretching at home can really complement the effects of your massage. It doesn't have to be anything crazy, but incorporating light stretching exercises (similar to yoga or pilates) into your routine can help maintain flexibility, release tension, and prolong that post-massage bliss.
Listen to Your Body
Pay attention to how your body feels after the massage. While some soreness is normal, especially after deep tissue work, inform your massage therapist if you experience any discomfort beyond mild soreness. They can provide tailored advice to address your specific needs. Here at Georgie Glow, we always customise each and every massage to suit you and your needs, so don't be afraid to tell us know you felt after your last massage with us, and if there's anything different you'd like next time.
Maintain Regular Massages
Consistency is key to reaping the full benefits of massage therapy. We totally get that not everyone can keep up with every 3-4 weeks, however, regular sessions can help prevent tension buildup, reduce stress, and promote overall wellness. Discuss a suitable massage schedule with our therapists to align with your wellness goals.
Prioritize Self-Care
Extend the benefits of your massage by incorporating self-care practices into your daily routine. Whether it's meditation, gentle exercise, or a warm bath, nurturing your body and mind reinforces the positive effects of your massage experience.
